Hi, I am Kerry

I am a mother, wife, friend, doula, birth advocate…

I am a proud  mum of one (the most wonderful sassy daughter), a doula, a birth advocate and antenatal and hypnobirthing educator and a birth trauma practitioner. Originally from London/Essex where I grew up and now living in Nottingham with my lovely family which includes our dog called Ray!

I completely and utterly fell in love with preparing for birth. Navigating a redundancy, COVID lock down and HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) was really difficult but the one thing that helped me through it was discovering how amazing birth is. I read as much as I could, did an at-home hypnobirthing course (there were no in person classes due to COVID lock down) and prepared as much as I could for the birth of my daughter despite the lack of support everyone was experiencing.

Whilst I experienced a really empowering birth, it didn’t quite go to plan and a lot happened and I needed help processing it. It set me on my path to becoming a doula. There were things that I wish I had known, support I wish I had and I couldn’t imagine other women and their partners not having that support or knowledge to help prepare them for this fundamental transformative journey to meeting their baby.

My ethos as a doula is that EVERYONE deserves continuity of care and inclusive support no matter what. I want the families I work with to feel really cared for, supported and feel like they are not alone. I am invested in your hopes, dreams and wishes for birth and I will ride that pregnancy birth, and postpartum journey with you.

My Training

About 6 months after having my daughter in 2020 I decided that I was so passionate about supporting families that I began researching/planning and decided to first train as a 3 Step Rewind Practitioner. This was important to me as I saw first hand what birth trauma can do to a family and I knew that I wanted to support others through this and help them heal.

As I started working with families who had experienced trauma, I also began my hypnobirthing training as I knew fundamentally how powerful independent antenatal education could be and wanted to help families prepare and learn about birth so that they could feel in control, informed and empowered. Hence the tag line “Honest, Informed and Empowering Birth Support” was born.

Why would you book me as your doula?

Firstly, I know that it is a huge investment when you're considering booking a doula for your birth and you want to make sure that you have the best person for you and your birth! You want someone you can trust, connect with and feel like they will support you no matter what.

I will be honest, I am not the best at selling myself as what I do is a passion, a vocation and I put everything into the work that I do!

If I had to sum up why you would book me, I would say that I am a really honest person, I believe that women are incredible and I am in awe of the strength of the women I get to support. I am a really caring person and I will go above and beyond to make sure you feel cared for and supported. I really invest in my clients and their birth and I will be there to listen to you without judgment (you can tell me anything), offer you a shoulder to cry on and I will always offer you impartial antenatal information (that is backed by evidence), gentle guidance and encourage you to listen to your gut when making decisions (our gut feeling is so important).

I will never tell you what to do as it is not my role to BUT I will make sure that you have all the information you need to help you make the best decision that feels right for you so that you can feel in control.

I have loads of lovely skills too, I can create a really nice calm birth environment (my clients call my bag the Mary Poppins bag!). I hold a birth space really well and I can offer emotional support to you throughout. I work really well alongside other medical care providers although you are my only priority! I am trained in massage, acupressure, aromatherapy and biomechanics/rebozo to help aid comfort in labour, create space for your baby and help keep you calm and relaxed as much as possible. I also have good antenatal knowledge and if I don’t know the answer I can guarantee I will find out for you (I do love to research).

So that’s me in a nutshell, please do feel free to check out my 5* google reviews and client testimonial across my website that my clients have shared with me (I feel very lucky!)

I honestly do believe that there is a doula out there for everyone and being someone’s doula it is about connection, feeling safe and having someone you trust to walk beside you.  It is why I always offer a free chat/consultation so you can meet me, ask questions and find out if I am the right doula for you!
